The Pirelli Tire Factory in Slatina, today one of the most modern car tire factories, is equipped with state-of-the-art, non-robotic production technology designed to deliver Premium Performance tires where Pirelli is the leader: Winter, Uhp Winter, High-Performance, Ultra-High-Performance, Runflat and SUV.
The Pirelli Group carries out numerous social and cultural activities in Romania, among which: the partnership with the Universities of Craiova and Bucharest aimed at implementing technological innovations, the project of disseminating the Italian culture in Slatina, the collaboration agreement between the Niguarda Hospital in Milan and the Hospital in Slatina , and the Intercampus project, together with the FC Internazionale Milano football team, dedicated to children from different social backgrounds.

The company has achieved and maintained a global leadership in Dow Jones Sustainability Sustainability at global and European level for seven years in a row. Pirelli is the only tire manufacturer included in the Global Compact 100 Sustainability Index. In June 2013, the Association for Foreign Policy awarded Pirelli President and Chief Executive Officer Marco Tronchetti Provera the 2013 Social Responsibility Prize for his continued efforts in regards sustainability and social responsibility.
The company is dedicated to research and development, an area where it invests around 3% of its total revenue and 7% of its peak product revenue, one of the highest levels in the industry, allowing Pirelli to constantly develop systems innovative and high technology for the production of its tires. Pirelli boasts a portfolio of approximately 4,500 patents and currently has a research and development center in Italy and 8 application locations around the world with around 1,200 researchers employed worldwide, a number that doubles if we consider people involved in open innovation projects, developed with outside research centers, universities and car manufacturers. With an industry tradition of over 140 years, Pirelli is one of the protagonists of the Italian industry.
